STEM Field Trips

STEM and Skating

These field trips will teach students how Astro Skate uses science, technology and engineering to run our family fun centers. We will also solve real world math problems that would occur every day in our skating centers.
Looking for an elementary field trip that is fun with real world learning experiences?

  • Our STEM field trips meet the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards. The lesson is taught by a certified teacher.

STEM Elementary School Educational Field Trips

First Grade Lesson

Students will work and classify skate wheels to create a pictograph. They will also solve real world math problems that occur in a skating center.

Second Grade Lesson

Students will use a ramp and a skate to create a hypothesis about the relationship between the angle of a ramp and the distance the skate will roll. They will also solve real world math problems that occur in a skating center.

Third Grade Lesson

Students will Use different types of skates to determine which one will roll the farthest. They will use those measurements to create a bar graph to show their results. They will also solve real world math problems that occur in a skating center.

Fourth Grade Lesson

Students will use a ramp and a skate to determine how mass and angle effect the distance and speed of an object.

Fifth Grade Lesson

Using a skate, a ramp and different surfaces, students will investigate what causes skates to roll differently on varied floors.
